Summer 2017 Rewind

Wednesday, June 14, 2017 | 0 comments

Summer had been CRAZY! I slowed down with my reading because of some problems with my mental health, and I rarely got out of the house. I've become a hermit.

Anyway, here's what happened in the past two months:

BOOKS I READ

v   All the Rage by Courtney Summers (⋆⋆⋆)
I picked up this book because of the hard-hitting topic. I wanted to like it, but I just couldn't connect with the characters. It also feels repetitive and I wish some things were explored more.

v   Infini by Krista Ritchie, Becca Ritchie (⋆⋆⋆½)
I enjoyed Amour Amour, and I wish I also enjoyed it as much. I just couldn't connect with the characters. I liked the side characters more.

v   Uprooted by Naomi Novik (⋆⋆⋆⋆)
Really liked it. The pacing was slow in the beginning but second half made up for it. It was unpredictable and unique.

v   Clipped Wings by Helena Hunting (⋆⋆⋆⋆½)
v   Inked Armor by Helena Hunting (⋆⋆⋆⋆)
I started reading this series because I felt like I was I was falling back to my slump. I enjoyed it and like how everything concluded.

v   Till Death by Jennifer L. Armentrout (⋆⋆⋆)
The plot was interesting and suspenseful, but it was predictable.

v   The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis (⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆)
I love this book! It's dark and powerful. I love the message. I highly recommend it.

          v   Background Music by J.R. Rogue (⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆)
I don't know what to say about this except that it is beautifully written.

v   The Next Flame by Penelope Douglas (⋆⋆⋆½)
I liked, but I find some things awkward...

v   But I Love Him by Amanda Grace (⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆)
Intense and heartbreaking. It deals with a hard-hitting topic, and it was nicely executed. It's realistic and I wish I have read this before.

FAVORITE QUOTE FROM THE BOOKS

“A puppy feels like life and love. Their entire bodies are soft—fur, skin, the pads of their feet new and delicate. They radiate warmth in the way science can explain, but it goes further than that. The heat of affection pours out of their eyes and makes their little butts wiggle like crazy as soon as they see a person—they don’t even care who. They’re love, encapsulated.” ― The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis

MOVIES I WATCHED

          v   The Boss Baby (⋆⋆⋆½)
v   Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆)
v   Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge (⋆⋆⋆⋆)

SIGNIFICANT EVENTS

  1. I got my bachelor's degree. I just 'graduated' last April 26 but I didn't attend the ceremony because of my anxieties.
  2. I enrolled in a review center and I'm studying for the psychometrician board exam.
  3. I got an 'A' in my First Quarter Reading Assignment.

WHAT I HOPE TO READ AND WATCH NEXT MONTH

I don't have much plans for June, aside from reading a contemporary book for June's reading assignment, and watching Despicable Me 3 (I already watched Wonder Woman and I love it!)

SO, HOW WAS YOUR MONTHS?
ANYTHING EXCITING HAPPENING THIS MONTH?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR VISITING!
